Premium high sealing aluminum paper roll engineered for absolute barrier protection and high-speed packaging.
High-barrier aluminum foil paper rolls engineered for ultra-reliable hermetic seals at low temperature on IMA, TEEPACK, FUSO, and MAISA tea bag envelope lines.

Brand & Supply Chain: Absolute Barrier Meets Natural Appeal Secure Your Premium Products with Ultimate Rollstock
High sealing aluminum paper roll is a premium-grade aluminum foil laminate composite designed specifically for tea bag outer envelope (overwrap) packaging on high-speed HFFS lines. Unlike standard metallized paper, this product features a full aluminum foil barrier layer that delivers near-zero oxygen and moisture transmission, combined with a precision-engineered heat-seal coating that activates at 90–120°C — significantly lower than conventional foil laminates requiring 140–160°C.
The result: a consistently hermetic seal across a wide temperature window, reducing seal failure rates on IMA, TEEPACK, FUSO, and MAISA machines running at 200–400 PPM.
XLD has supplied high sealing aluminum paper rolls to tea bag brands in the US, UK, and EU since 2016. Our rolls are produced under ISO 9001:2015 and comply with FDA 21 CFR 176.170 for food-contact paper materials.

It performs well on high-speed form-fill-seal lines and supports recyclable or compostable upgrades. Related products include our multi-layer aluminized paper roll and single-layer paper roll film.
Standard aluminum foil paper laminates used for tea bag envelopes require seal temperatures of 140–160°C to achieve a hermetic bond. At these temperatures, three problems frequently occur on high-speed lines:
XLD high sealing aluminum paper roll solves all three by using a dual-component heat-seal coating applied in a thin, uniform layer over the aluminum foil. This coating:
Barrier performance is determined by the aluminum foil gauge. Our standard structure uses 7–9 µm aluminum foil, delivering OTR below 0.5 cc/m²/day and MVTR below 0.3 g/m²/day — sufficient to protect premium teas (green, white, oolong) through 24-month shelf life at ambient humidity. For markets requiring extended shelf life or tropical distribution conditions, our enhanced foil (12 µm) reduces OTR to below 0.1 cc/m²/day.
Step 1: Confirm Roll Width for Your Machine Model
Supplying an incorrect roll width — even by 1–2 mm — causes lateral tracking failure, material waste, and production stoppages. Use the table below to confirm the correct specification.
| Machine Brand | Model | Standard Roll Width (mm) | Seal Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| IMA | C2000 | 120, 125, 140, 150 | 3-Side Heat-seal / Crimp Outer Envelope |
| IMA | C24 / C27 | 120, 125, 140, 150 | 3-Side Heat-seal / Crimp Outer Envelope |
| IMA | C40 / C80 | 120, 150 | Multi-lane High-speed Heat-seal |
| TEEPACK | Prima | 120, 130, 140 | Pillow-style Heat-seal (Flowpack) |
| TEEPACK | Perfecta | 120, 130, 140 | Pillow-style Heat-seal (Flowpack) |
| FUSO | FT-II / FT-III | 160, 180, 200 | 3-Side Heat-seal Overwrap |
| MAISA | TE-26 / TE-36 | 125, 130, 140 | 3-Side Heat-seal Outer Envelope |
If your machine model is not listed, provide your current film specification (width, core size, max reel diameter) and our technical team will confirm compatibility within 2 business days.
Step 2: Select Foil Gauge Based on Shelf Life Target
7 µm Aluminum Foil Composite Structure (standard type)
9 µm Aluminum Foil Composite Structure (Advanced Type)
12 µm Aluminum Foil Composite Structure (Flagship Type)
Step 3: Specify Surface Finish
| Finish | Best For |
|---|---|
| Gloss | Premium brands — bright, shelf-impact appearance |
| Matt | Premium organic / specialty teas — understated elegance |
| Soft-touch | Ultra-premium tier — tactile brand experience |
Step 4: Run a Machine Trial Before Full Order
We can request 2–5 kg (approximately 20–50 meters) of trial roll samples for testing heat-sealing barrier, paper feeding, and cutter smoothness at standard operating temperatures. Our technicians can provide remote assistance in recording temperature, sealing pressure, and line speed to ensure complete compatibility with the bulk order.

XLD provides full customization for high sealing aluminum paper rolls — from material structure to brand printing to roll geometry. Standard catalog rolls ship from stock; custom configurations are produced in 15–21 business days from specification confirmation.
Structure Customization Foil gauge, paper weight, inner seal coating chemistry, and lamination adhesive can all be adjusted. If you currently use a Leoprint or Ahlstrom product, share the spec sheet and our R&D team will match or improve on the performance — typically achieving equivalent or lower seal activation temperature with wider operating window.
Surface Printing Flexographic printing up to 10 colors on the paper outer surface. Minimum run for printed rolls is 500 kg per design. Unprinted (natural aluminum / white) rolls are available from MOQ 300 kg.
Roll Geometry Slit width, core diameter, roll diameter, and winding direction (inside/outside wind) are fully specifiable. For IMA and TEEPACK machines sensitive to unwind tension, we validate roll winding tension before shipment.
Pure Aluminum (AL) foil is a solid sheet of metal that provides an absolute barrier, bringing Oxygen and Moisture transmission rates effectively to zero. VMPET is a plastic film coated with metal particles; it is cheaper and more flexible but cannot match the extreme long-term barrier protection of pure AL foil.
Yes. Our high sealing aluminum paper rolls comply with FDA 21 CFR 176.170, which governs paper and paperboard in contact with aqueous and fatty foods. The heat-sealable inner layer also meets EU Regulation (EC) No 10/2011 for plastic materials in contact with food. Third-party migration test reports are available upon request within 5 business days of inquiry.
XLD uses a full aluminum foil barrier layer (7–12 µm), whereas Leoprint uses multi-layer water-based coating without foil, and Ahlstrom uses coated paper only. Foil-based structures achieve OTR below 0.5 cc/m²/day — critical for protecting volatile essential oils in premium green tea and white tea over 18–24 months. Our heat-seal coating activates at 90–120°C, matching or exceeding the low-temperature sealing performance of paper-only competitors.
Yes. Our facility and supply chain are fully FSC certified. We source our Kraft and bleached papers from responsibly managed forests, allowing your brand to meet sustainability compliance while maintaining a premium natural look.
Yes. While printing on textured paper is more challenging than smooth plastic, our state-of-the-art rotogravure printing presses utilize specialized food-safe inks and precise cylinder engraving to ensure vibrant colors, sharp text, and perfectly scannable barcodes on the paper surface.

Single layer paper roll film is a paper-based flexible packaging rollstock designed for high-speed form-fill-seal (FFS) machines. Built on a single recyclable paper substrate with optional functional coatings, it replaces multi-layer plastic laminates in applications where sustainability, printability, and food-contact safety are required.

Premium multi-layer aluminized paper roll engineered for high-barrier automated packaging.

XLD’s bio-based paper roll products offer sustainable and compostable packaging solutions for products such as tea bags, snacks, and dried goods, making them an ideal choice for brands that want to use environmentally friendly materials without compromising on packaging performance and print quality.
